This retreat is for you whether you want to take this time simply to journey one step deeper into yourself or because you are feeling challenged in one or more areas of your life and want to look at them head on.


A Retreat During Covid?!?
Yes! Especially for these times.

Cora is very blessed to live on 195 acres of quiet forest along the Otonabee River.

We are dividing the retreat into four weekly, three-hour sessions which will be held in our private sanctuary.  There is plenty of space to socially distance while you experience the healing forces of a spring forest waking up after winter. There is a rustic cabin in case of rain. In addition, there are picnic tables, a campfire, a bridge, river frontage and several trails.   

Three to four women only will gather in this beautiful natural setting for a life-changing experience of thought-provoking activities and gentle practices for self-care.

This retreat has been created to take you on a journey where you will remember the gift that you already are. 

You will gather empowering tools for change in the deep learning sessions complemented with wise teachings, reflection time, and nourishing snacks. 

Using the forest as our spa, you will connect deeply to nature and our heart wisdom.  

You will be clarifying intentions, experiencing profound letting-go activities, identify our gifts and shift from thinking to knowing.  

You will experience forest bathing, heart coherence, oracle card readings, listening for nature’s messages, walking meditations, and much more.

Everything.

Many mystics, philosophers, and ancient-medicine disciplines view the heart as “the seat of the soul,” “the supreme self,” “the secret cave,” or “the ruler”— a source of great intuition and wisdom.

The yogic tradition refers to the spiritual heart as hridaya, or pure consciousness, a great inner guide that reveals ultimate truth.

Awakening to the heart’s intelligence is an unfolding, a remembering, and a process of discovery. You will experience many ways to open to your heart’s wisdom and intuition.

Research shows that the heart has more than 40,000 neurons that can sense, feel, learn, and remember, and that it is constantly in communication with the brain.

When we intentionally savour positive emotions, such as caring, compassion, and appreciation, the heart processes these experiences, and the heart’s rhythm becomes smoother and more harmonious — what’s known as coherent.

According to the HeartMath Institute, heart intelligence is “the flow of awareness, understanding, and intuition we experience when the mind and emotions are brought into coherent alignment with the heart.”

This information is then sent to the entire body—neurologically, biochemically, biophysically, and energetically—which profoundly affects how we perceive, think, feel, and perform.

All sorts of benefits arise, including increased vitality, decreased stress, a deepening of relationships, and greater mental clarity and intuitive ability, including better decision-making.

What are the Health Benefits of Forest Bathing?

There is a large amount of scientific evidence surrounding the health benefits of spending time in nature. Because of this, forest bathing became an integral part of preventive health care and healing in Japanese medicine.

People who spend time in the forest experience decreased cortisol (stress hormone) levels, which can help relieve high blood pressure, heart conditions, skin conditions, and asthma.

Stress hormones can compromise immune defense; in particular, the activities of frontline defenders, such as antiviral natural killer cells, are suppressed by stress hormones. Since forest bathing can lower stress hormone production and elevate mood states, it’s not surprising that it also influences markers of immune system strength.

Boost Immune Functioning

High stress levels can compromise your immune system. By reducing these levels your body’s natural defense system is able to work its magic. Trees release oils into the air, called phytoncides, and inhaling these natural essences can actually help to boost your immune system.

This Sacred Space is Home to an Eagle Family

High up on a tall pine above the forest space where we will be gathering is a nest of eagles.  There is no guarantee that you will see them.  They decide when we see them or not. What we do know for sure is that Eagle Medicine is powerful.

One of the lessons to be learned from Eagle is not to depend exclusively on intellectual solutions. Through its connection to the air element, Eagle is connected to intelligence, but also to Spirit, the knowing that goes far beyond intellect. 

Eagle Medicine invites you to

  • Learn that life looks different from an aerial perspective
  • Open our minds and hearts to see past old, restricting beliefs that are holding us back courageously face our fear of the unknown
  • Be confident and trusting in our abilities

It may not be the eagle that speaks to you–it may be the raven, a piliated woodpecker, a heron or a loon.  It might be a turtle, a beaver, a deer or a racoon.  It may be a trillium, a Jack-in-the-pulpit or a dogwood flower. It may be a tall pine or a cedar tree. Whatever it is… it is time for self-care.
