Judy Hefferan Award Winner Announcement
It is my understanding that the JHA (Judy Heffernan Award) winner is chosen based not only on a weighted scale, which measures the general background of the nominee, details related to HOW the nominee HUMBLY helped others, as well a description of how the nominee leads her community, but also the quality of, and the detail provided, within the nomination.
Having had the opportunity to read the winning nomination prior to tonight’s event, I can share these details with you…
This year’s recipient is described as a “Learn-a-holic”, a coach of young & old, an empowering facilitator, a dedicated mentor, and resoundingly resilient.
She was not only a mentor to Judy, but also a mentor, business & personal life coach to last years JHA recipient, Kim Appleton…but no one really knew that…because this years award recipient, like Judy, was all of these things behind the curtain, not wanting the recognition for herself, but rather feeling rewarded by the success of others.
Not many of you know that Judy was the eldest daughter of 9 siblings, who my aunts tell me, wielded a mean slipper while disciplining them! Judy likely learned her organization & leadership skills at a young age helping to raise all those kids. Like Judy, this year’s recipient was the eldest of 8 siblings, and likely learned many of the same skills Judy did while growing up. Leadership, mentoring, empowering is in their DNA.
It is my great pleasure & honour to announce this years Judy Heffernan Award recipient: CORA WHITTINGTON
